I started this series of working with paper cranes at the beginning of this year inspired by the story of Sadako Sasaki and 1000 paper cranes. Determined like Sadako to create 1000 paper cranes, as it is believed in Japanese tradition that if you fold 1000 origami cranes, one’s wish would come true. I wish for peace. — I’m only up to 33 … so there will be more ladies and more cranes, and in my own way I will also ‘write peace upon their wings and let them fly all over the world’ ❤️

The paper crane is a symbol of peace, love, hope, and healing during challenging times 🤍

'The Magic of Paper Cranes' has a base layer of torn music sheet paper glued onto the canvas. I then build up layers of shading with pencil for the delicate facial features, pointillism with acrylic paint for her hair, peony flowers and the light blue background which gives each piece texture and depth.
