'Light Between Two Worlds' is a contemplative new body of work exploring thresholds — the quiet spaces between past and future, fragility and strength, the seen and the unseen.
In this series, Natalie moves toward restraint and stillness. The figures that emerge are serene, introspective, and luminous, often depicted with flowing white hair and softened expressions, suggesting wisdom earned through lived experience rather than youth. These women exist not in a specific place or time, but within an in-between realm, a symbolic space where transformation gently unfolds.
Each work begins with a base layer of vintage music sheet paper, forming a subtle, textural foundation beneath the surface. This is followed by layers of acrylic paint and intricate pointillism, building rhythm, movement, and depth.
Gold elements appear throughout the works — not as decoration, but as quiet markers of the sacred. Subtle panels and accents reference illumination, protection, and inner knowing. They evoke the idea of a passage or doorway, hinting at what lies just beyond the visible, the light that exists between worlds.
Natalie’s palette for this collection is deliberately softened and ethereal. Warm parchment tones, muted ivories, gentle blushes, and restrained metallics replace the bold saturation of earlier works, allowing space for contemplation and stillness. Glazes and layered surfaces create a luminous depth, inviting the viewer to slow down and engage on an emotional level.
While deeply personal, 'Light Between Two Worlds' speaks to universal experiences — change, vulnerability, endurance, and quiet hope. These works are not portraits in the traditional sense, but emotional landscapes: moments of pause where strength is found in softness and beauty emerges through simplicity.
In Natalie’s words:
“This body of work is about honouring the space in between. Where we are no longer who we were, but not yet who we are becoming. It’s a place of reflection, surrender, and light.”
