Daughter of Light speaks to the quiet courage of moving forward, of carrying all that has shaped us while remaining open to what is still to come.

With one hand resting gently over her heart and the other extended before her, she embodies a moment between holding and releasing, remembering and becoming. Her gesture is one of trust: a reminder that we do not need to know exactly what lies ahead in order to meet it with grace.

Her flowing white hair suggests wisdom shaped through lived experience, while the warm ochre and bronze tones of her gown bring a sense of earthiness and strength. Beneath her figure, fragments of vintage music sheet paper remain softly visible, traces of what has gone before, woven into who she has become.

Intricate pointillism creates movement through her hair and richly textured gown, while the layered, timeworn surface surrounding her evokes something weathered yet beautiful. Against this imperfect backdrop, her pale figure appears almost luminous — a quiet presence emerging into the light.

Daughter of Light forms part of Natalie Briney's 2026 collection L'ight Between Two Worlds'  a contemplative body of work exploring thresholds: the quiet spaces between past and future, fragility and strength, the seen and the unseen.

Each work begins with vintage music sheet paper, forming a subtle textural foundation beneath layers of acrylic paint and intricate pointillism. Warm parchment tones, muted ivories and softened, earthy colour create luminous, layered surfaces that invite the viewer to slow down and look more closely.

While deeply personal, 'Light Between Two Worlds' speaks to universal experiences of change, vulnerability, endurance and hope. At the heart of the collection lies a quiet question: how do we move through life's transitions with grace instead of fear?

These works are not portraits in the traditional sense, but emotional landscapes, moments of pause where strength is found in softness and beauty emerges through transformation.

In Natalie's words:

“This body of work is about honouring the space in between. Where we are no longer who we were, but not yet who we are becoming. It’s a place of reflection, surrender, and light.”
