It was a terrible news week last week. Some weeks you have lots of yucky stuff happening and you can kind of not let it get to you, but other weeks, well it just all gets a bit much.
For anyone not in the know, this was one of the sad articles that appeared in my Facebook newsfeed and somehow Cecil leaped out of my computer screen and into my heart. I just couldn't stop thinking about this tragedy.
So my usual way of handling sadness or pain is to paint. I paint how it feels.. that's my catch phrase, so I just really wanted to pay homage to Cecil in some way....but having NEVER painted a lion before, I was a little hesitant.
I left it a few days, then gave myself a swift kick in the butt, got over my insecurities and just put paint to canvas.
Here is the result ----->
I enjoyed the sunshine and did a little spray painting outside in my backyard
a little close up of the colour and background
I really wanted to keep my girl and Cecil in a pallette of black/white/grey, so that the colour in the background would really pop.
Thank you so much for popping by
